About Teeny's Friends

We provide toys for needy dogs! At Teeny's Friends our goal is to make sure that no dog ever has to go without the simple pleasure of chasing a ball or snuggling a plushie. Our mission was inspired by Teeny, my own rescue dog & our mascot. We raise toys through monthly toy drives & the sale of our One For One toy (when you buy one, we donate one). The toys we raise are then donated to rescue groups, animal shelters, and families in low income neighborhoods. Read on to learn how you can help us help needy dogs!

Purchase Your Own Official Teeny's Friends One-For-One Toy!

Each is only $4.99 and when you buy one, we donate one to a needy dog! Buy your own via PayPal in the right-hand column below. Buy for yourself, as a gift, or as a donation for your favorite animal organization!

August Toy Drive Coming Up!

Our August toy drive is just around the corner, on Saturday, August 7th! It will be held at Camp 4 Paws in my new neighborhood. Camp 4 Paws is located at 4800 Burnet Road in Austin, Tx. [Click here to see a map of the location.] Our bins will be there until Saturday, August 21st.

I don't have any info yet on the beneficiary for the toy donations but I'll be updating the site with that info as soon as I get it!

Teeny Wants A Vacation Too!!!

As you may or may not know, we went on vacation a few weeks ago. As soon as my dogs see our luggage out, they know something is up. In this picture, I think Teeny was hoping we wouldn't notice him, zip up the suitcases, and take him along to Mexico with us!

Tasty Frozen Treat For Your Pooches!

Our friends and fellow Austinites, the gang at www.DogTipper.com, have a great website full of dog tips, tricks, news, photos, and more. One of my favorite sections of their site is the recipes tab. Recently I tried out their recipe for "brothsicles" which is a fantastic frozen treat perfect for these 100+ degree Austin summer days. My dogs love them, as you can see in the picture above. Check out their page for some recipes that you pups will love!

July Toy Drive A Success!

This afternoon I stopped by Doggie Styles, who hosted our July drive. It was practically overflowing with toys! Robin, the owner, is such a sweetheart and really put a lot of effort into helping us promote, even offering grooming discounts for those who donated toys. I can't wait to drop off all these toys to the pups at the Austin Humane Society!

Special Offer From Doggie Styles

Robin with Doggie Styles [who is hosting our July toy drive and also groomed our Tootsie earlier this week] just emailed me with a special offer for everyone who comes in to donate a toy to our cause.

Anyone who comes in and drops a toy off in our bins before the end of our toy drive on July 23rd will receive a $10 off coupon for a full groom or a $5 off coupon for baths.

Please note that you don't have to use the coupons before the 23rd - you just have to come in and donate a toy before then, since that's when the toy drive ends.

If you live in the Austin area and have a pet that needs grooming, you should take advantage of this offer! Help out a needy dog and your own pooch at the same time. Robin & co did a GREAT job on our Tootsie, and her prices are extremely reasonable! Click here for information on Doggie Styles, including their location and how to get in touch with them.

Tootsie On Her Way To The Beauty Parlor

Here's a cute pic of Tootsie in the car on her way to an afternoon of beauty at Doggie Styles K9 Boutique and Day Spa, who is hosting our July toy drive! When I pick her up this afternoon I'll take some "after" pictures and post them as well.

Update: They did a fantastic job! She looks so great and even put a cute little bandana on her!

July Toy Drive Going On Now!

Our July toy drive at Doggie Styles is officially going on as of noon today! I stopped in to set up the bin and couldn't believe what a cute little shop it was! Everything was extremely clean, and they have a ton of great pet accessories, including sports team items.

Doggie Styles is located at 2105 Justin Lane here in Austin. Justin Lane off Burnet Road, about halfway between Anderson Lane and Koenig. Click here to see a map of the location.

Our bins will be there until July 23rd. They are still thinking about who they would like to benefit from donated toys, but I will update you with that information as soon as I have it. In the meantime, please stop by and donate if you are able!

Update 07/12/2010 - I just spoke with Robin and she has decided that the July toy drive should benefit the Austin Humane Society.

By Teeny: Missing the Anipal Academy Awards

The Anipal Academy Awards are going on next weekend [click here to read a previous post about them] and I won't be able to be there. BOO! Mom and Dad are going on vacation to the beach in Mexico next Friday the 16th through Monday the 19th. I'm gonna do my best to stop in and walk the red carpet so that I have an excuse to put on the beeaauutiful gown that you guys chose in our 'what to wear' poll. Spoiler alert: I'm gonna put it on before they even leave, just in case. [I promise I am a boy doggie I just like the way silk and other soft materials feel against my fur!]

Even though I cannot go, I want to encourage all of my anipals to go. We all work so hard to improve the lives of less-fortunate anipals, and this is a great chance to honor each other. Teeny's Friends is nominated in the "most kind-hearted" category. We don't expect to win [I didn't even vote for myself - there were too many other good people nominated!] but I am truly honored to be included with the great group of other nominees.

My Twitter friend Daffy @no_crybaby_doGs is making custom souvenir magnets in honor of this event. You can order a magnet with your own anipal in his/her red carpet costume! It costs $8.50 + shipping. Click here for more information, including how to order!

A Day In The Life of Teeny

Yes, it's tough. Feel sorry for him! :)

Yoda's Kwestshuns: By Teeny

My pal Yoda [look at him on the left - how cute is he???] asked me to participate in the Kwestshuns Game. Here's how it works: someone asked Yoda and 4 other friends to answer 5 questions. Yoda answered them and then made up his own 5 questions, asking 5 of his friends [including yours truly!] to answer them. I'll answer Yoda's questions, make up my own, then pass them along to 5 of my friends. Click here to read Yoda's answers at his blog, Barking Out Loud! Anywho, here goes my answers!

1. What is your favorite treat?
This is a tough question. I really like those little baby carrots. But I'm gonna have to go with rawhide bonies. Especially when they have fun stuff, like chicken, in the middle. I'll just sit and lick and chew on them all day long. Sometimes I will take them in the yard and work on them while I lie in sun puddles. Aaah, bliss!

2. What is your favorite thing to do with your human(s)?
This is an easy one- cuddle! I love it when my Dad makes a nook for me to curl up in between his legs. I could nap there all day long. Sometimes on the weekends I do! BOL! My second favorite thing it to play fetch.

3. What is your favorite thing to do outside?
Nap in sun puddles. I will lie in the same spot in the sun for hours with my eyes closed. Mom and Dad sometimes have to make me come inside to drink some water. It just feels so good I don't want to move- is that so wrong?

4. If you could meet one famous animal or person, who would it be?
I would want to meet Riley the Smiling Dog so that he could teach me how to smile in pictures and I could get famous too!

5. If you could go one place in the world, where would it be?
Our family bed, right now. With my Mom, Dad & little sister to take a nap. I'm a simple guy.

As for the furriends I would like to ask my kwestshuns to: @JazzyDaCat at Jazzy Da Cat's Bloggie Extraordinaire; @mattiedog at Mattie Dog: A Little Dog Making a Big Impact in this World; @ScouttheDog at Scout's Dog Blog; @AutumnTheDoxie with the Anipal Academy Awards; and @GeorgeTheDuck at GeorgeTheDuck.com!

The questions I would like for them to answer on their blogs are:
1. Where is your favorite place to nap?
2. What is your favorite thing to eat?
3. What is your favorite toy or plushy?
4. Do you like to be inside or outside more?
5. What do you dislike the most?

July Toy Drive Scheduled

I'm really excited to let you guys know that our July toy drive has been scheduled! It will be held at Doggie Styles K9 Boutique & Day Spa here in Austin! They are a groomer/day spa and doggie boutique all in one! Check back here soon for more about them. I can't wait to meet Robin, the owner. So far we've only spoken on the phone but I can tell we're going to get along famously. She is so sweet and willing to help - "anything for the animals" she says. My kind of gal! :)

Doggie styles is located at 2105 Justin Lane #111, Austin, Texas 78757.
I will be on vacation this month from July 16 - July 19th (which means I will have to miss the Anipal Academy Awards ceremony... boo!) so the toy drive dates are slightly different than usual. We will begin the drive the second weekend of the month, instead of the first. Our bins will be at Doggie Styles from noon on Friday, July 9th until noon on Friday, July 23rd. They are in the process of deciding who will benefit, but I will update as soon as I receive that information from them. A big THANK YOU goes out to Robin & company for agreeing to host!
