About Teeny's Friends

We provide toys for needy dogs! At Teeny's Friends our goal is to make sure that no dog ever has to go without the simple pleasure of chasing a ball or snuggling a plushie. Our mission was inspired by Teeny, my own rescue dog & our mascot. We raise toys through monthly toy drives & the sale of our One For One toy (when you buy one, we donate one). The toys we raise are then donated to rescue groups, animal shelters, and families in low income neighborhoods. Read on to learn how you can help us help needy dogs!

Purchase Your Own Official Teeny's Friends One-For-One Toy!

Each is only $4.99 and when you buy one, we donate one to a needy dog! Buy your own via PayPal in the right-hand column below. Buy for yourself, as a gift, or as a donation for your favorite animal organization!

Teeny & His Grandma!

My in-laws came into town today to see our new house ~ we took them to brunch and showed them around the new neighborhood. Before they left, my sweet mother-in-law let us know that she wanted to purchase some of our 1-fur-1 toys. She bought 5 of them! So we sill soon be donating 5 toys to some needy dogs. Thank you so much Alice! And check out the adorable pic I snapped of the two of them along with the toys she bought.

Donation to A Chance For Bliss

Last week I put up our Be The Change post, where I talked about the "Be the Change" movement where we all make a big change in the world by making small changes individually. I decided to donate one toy for each $10 raised at the mini PawPawty for A Chance For Bliss, an animal sanctuary focused on special needs pets and senior care, as well as those facing end of life circumstances. The PawPawty raised $755! Well done, anipals! We kept our end of the deal and we shipped 75 toys off yesterday. The picture to the left is the box right before I dropped it off at the post office. We hope all the animals enjoy them. You can also follow A Chance For Bliss on Twitter, if you aren't already, as well as their spokespig, homerleporc.

Teeny's Friends on the Radio!

Today, radio interview ~ tomorrow, publicly traded company? I might be getting ahead of myself but I'm pretty worked up right now. That's because I, (along with Teeny, of course!) am going to be on the radio tomorrow, May 18th from 1-2pm CST for an hour long interview about Teeny's Friends. Eek! I better start thinking of some interesting things to say!
At the Canine Hilton Rescue Roundup earlier this month, I met a really nice woman named Glo Rod (radio alias). Glo Rod has her own radio show ~ "Stories of Multiple Pets" and focuses on multi-pet homes. That's me! She has a great site, full of info, and even a game testing your ability to care for a pet (for those of you thinking of becoming pet parents). She has also written several books, "Stories of Multiple Pets" and "All The Fuss!"
Any who, she and I got to taking, and she asked me if I would want to come on her radio show. Of course I said yes! If you would like to listen online live, here is the link: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/a-variety-of-pets/2010/05/18/teenys-friends. If you aren't able to listen, the interview will be pod casted at her site, http://storiesofmultiplepets.com/ immediately afterwards!

May's Paws Kitchen #PawPawty For Charity

It's that time of month again ~ time for the PawPawty! We will be DJing again, this time on Sunday, May 23rd at 11am CST. The pawty is cooking themed and Teeny has his chefs outfit on and is ready to go. In honor of the cooking theme, all of our song in our DJ set will have either a food or drink in the title. The pawty benefits the North English Springer Spaniel Rescue.
We're keeping our playlist top secret for now, but don't worry ~ if you aren't at the PawPawty we will post it on here afterwards! Hope to see you all there!

Update 5-25-2010
Here is the playlist for the Paws Kitchen PawPawty! I had some technical difficulties during the first part of my set, so I didn't get to play all these songs ~ but I liked the playlist so much I decided to post the entire list anyway.

2. Gin & Juice ~ Snoop Dog
3. Sex and Candy ~ Marcy Playground

I Learned Something Today...

That Tootsie really really likes the water. My hubby was trying to water the backyard but I think more of the water got on Tootsie than the grass... was so much fun to watch! Not quite as much fun to clean up the mess she left on the floors afterwards. Totally worth it though!

Our Be The Change Post

At BlogPaws in April 2010 some of our Twitter friends, including @frugaldougal, introduced a simple but profound idea to everyone: Be The Change. The heart of the movement is about being the change that you want to see in the world. Even though Ghandi may have spoken these words first, he did not have the benefit of Twitter and Facebook to spread his message as far & wide as Frugal Dougal and his staff have. The idea is that "the change" doesn't have to involve spending money or be something earth shattering ~ it could be something as small as volunteering for a day at your local animal shelter, writing a blog post like this one to help spread the word, or donating old toys your dog doesn't play with anymore. Anything you do to make the world a better place helps, and if we all join in then together we can make a big difference ~ even a little dog like Teeny can be a part of the solution.

We weren't lucky enough to make it to BlogPaws in April [we were about to start moving into our new home so a trip wasn't in the cards] but the Be The Change movement swept Twitter so we certainly heard all about it and thought it was wonderful to see how many people were inspired by such a simple concept. I thought long and hard about what I could do to continue the momentum, and I think I found a way.

I have talked about PawPawties before [Teeny regularly DJs and PawPawty was our animal organization for the month of May] but this month I think I have found a way for us to be even more involved. The beneficiary is A Chance For Bliss and for every $10 raised, we will donate one toy. If PawPawty raises $500 we will donate 50 toys ~ if PawPawty raises $1000 we will donate 100 toys. And so on! If you are new to PawPawty, click here to visit their website for details on how to participate, donate, etc.

In the meantime, help us spread the word and think of ways that you can help to BE THE CHANGE!

Twitter Feed Temporarily Down

Update: Twitter feed seems to be back up and running!

Hey all! Just wanted to let you know that I am 100% aware that the Twitter feed is down. There is a very good reason for this... we just bought the www.teenysfriends.com domain! Over the next day or two, Blogger is going to be very busy switching things over. The www.teenysfriends.blogspot.com address will be re-directed over to the new domain. Once things are complete, the Twitter feed should work again. If not.. hmmm... we'll cross that bridge when we get there. But I'm warning you, I'm very good at eye-rolling and writing strongly worded notes. Yup, I'm pretty cool.

The Anipal Academy Awards Are Coming!

Teeny's note 5/7/10 - I wanted to take a minute and assure ewe all dat I am, in fact, a boy doggie. I fink I had a bit too much fun as TeeNA at da Chickfest PawPawty last month and I decided to wear a beeaautiful ball gown to da Anipal Awards instead of a stuffy unconfortable tuxedo. Maybe I am a girl doggie born in a boy doggies body?

Some clever anipals put their heads together and came up with the idea to hold the first annual Anipal Academy Awards! These awards are a great way for the online animal community to honor each other. Each and every one of us brings something unique to the table and we're excited to get the chance to reconize our friends and their special talents!

Voting begins May 7th and the awards ceremony will be in July. We are running around looking for the perfect dress to wear to the ceremony and after party! We've narrowed it down to 5 beautiful gowns and can't decide which to wear, so we are hoping that YOU GUYS could decide for us! Some are naughty and some are nice. Please vote in the poll to the right and let us know what look we should go for!

Update 7/2/2010 ~ The anipals have spoken and the results are in! You guys chose the "naughty light blue dress!" The Anipal Awards will be July 16th & 17th and we will be away on vacation during that time. I'll be sure and "change" Teeny into his gown before we go tho and who knows? Maybe I will be able to pop in and say hi during the ceremony! I'm certainly going to try!

Nice dark blue princess gown

New Gig - Book Reviewer for The Anipal Times!

We are SUPER EXCITED (I know I say that a lot, but this time I'm even more excited than usual!) to let all you guys know that we are officially a book reviewer for The Anipal Times! The Anipal Times is an online newsletter, published bi-monthly, to keep the online animal community informed about various animal related things. In their own words: "a place to write, share, and link to content, news, announcements and events in the twitter anipal community and beyond." The next issue publishes on May 15th, so we gotta get to work finding a book to review!

Canine Hilton Rescue Round-Up!

Today was the Canine Hilton Rescue Round-Up. We had the best time! The weather was beautiful, the dogs were cute, the humans were generous & sweet- what more can you ask for? I got my first sunburn of the year, which I could have done without, but I digress! :)
We sold quite a few of our 1-fur-1 toys, which means that we were able to donate quite a few! That always makes us happy. We decided to donate the toys raised to Austin Pets Alive, who also had a booth there, and their foster families. They do such fantastic work, including their take-over of the City's adoption program, and we were super happy to be able to support their efforts!
All in all, we met some fantastic new friends (of both the 2 legged & 4 legged variety!) and we can't wait to go back next year!
