About Teeny's Friends

We provide toys for needy dogs! At Teeny's Friends our goal is to make sure that no dog ever has to go without the simple pleasure of chasing a ball or snuggling a plushie. Our mission was inspired by Teeny, my own rescue dog & our mascot. We raise toys through monthly toy drives & the sale of our One For One toy (when you buy one, we donate one). The toys we raise are then donated to rescue groups, animal shelters, and families in low income neighborhoods. Read on to learn how you can help us help needy dogs!

Purchase Your Own Official Teeny's Friends One-For-One Toy!

Each is only $4.99 and when you buy one, we donate one to a needy dog! Buy your own via PayPal in the right-hand column below. Buy for yourself, as a gift, or as a donation for your favorite animal organization!

November Toy Drive At 4 Paws 4 Points

We are back in business with the toy drives! I got the confirmation today that 4 Paws 4 Points is going to host the drive for November. They are a great veterinary clinic in Austin near the intersection of FM 620 and RR 2222, which is near where I live. I haven't given my part of town a chance to donate, so I figured it was about time.
Our bins will be at 4 Paws 4 Points from November 7th until November 21st. The toys will benefit an animal organization of the host's choice, TBD. Below is an address for the clinic:

4 Paws 4 Points
8610 N HWY 620
Austin, TX 78726
Tel: 512-258-7447

I will update as soon as I know what group this batch of toys will benefit. Until then, everyone plan on stopping into 4 Paws 4 Points to drop off some new or gently used toys for some needy dogs!

Lunchtime Picnic With Our Dogs This Weekend

I took this picture this past weekend on a lunchtime picnic with our dogs. It was so perfect, with the famous Austin bridge (Pennybacker Bridge) in the background, I just had to post it!

Halloween Parties For Your Pet (& Safety Tips)!

Less than 2 weeks until Howl-0-ween! Many pet stores have parties for your furry friends, complete with costume contests. If you are in the Austin, Tx area like us, Just For Pets on Far West Blvd. is having one of these parties on October 31 from 11 AM - 4 PM. They will be serving treats for both you and your pet, and are giving a 10% discount to those who stop by with a furry friend in costume. I will post other events at some of my other favorite local pet stores as I get that information in.

This holiday can be as fun for your pet as it is for you! Here is a link to some safety tips & other things to remember on how to keep your dog safe on Halloween.

And just for fun, here are some of my favorite pet costumes I found in my extensive research for this post (AKA a 5-second Google image search):

Shelter in Ennis, Tx Closing - 200 Dogs Need Adopting or Fostering!

I just received this email from a friend and wanted to do my part in getting the message out:

Camp Wolfgang, a reputable German Shepherd Rescue in Ennis, Texas, is closing down because of financial issues (not family issues as was initially but erroneously thought) on October 31, 2009. Camp Wolfgang (CW) has nearly 200 adoptable dogs, who are healthy, friendly, vetted, spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, and well cared for. Many have had training. All dogs must be placed prior to October 31. CW told me that they don't want to euthanize dogs who remain after October 31, but it appears this will be their only option.

CW is asking rescue organizations to take any dogs whom they can. They are asking individuals to adopt or foster.

Adoption fee is $75.00. Dogs are FREE to verifiable rescue groups.

Current dogs: (approximate)
120 PB German Shepherds
2 Akitas
1 Anatolian/Great Pyrenees
4 Purebred Rottweiler
1 Great Dane/Lab 1 Boxer/Mastiff
1 St. Bernard/Akita 1 Wolf Dog (We know there is actually no such thing as a wolf dog)
45 Other mixed breeds

Dogs are available for viewing. Time is of the essence!

If you know anyone who can adopt, accept a dog into their rescue, or help in any way, call or email Neisha Livengood, Please call/email Camp Wolfgang only if you are interested in adopting, fostering, or rescuing a dog (s), or can help in some other tangible way.

CONTACT INFORMATION:

Neisha Livengood, Kennel Master
Email: campwolfgang@yahoo.com
Telephone: 214-755-1627

Thanks to everyone for anything you may be able to do to help these dogs.

Whether or not you can take a dog...Please Cross Post Widely.

Thank you,
Margaret Morin, CCFJ

Visit To Lofty Dog Today!

I stopped by Lofty Dog today for a quick visit. They are one of the coolest pet stores in town, and not just because they are selling our toy! I've never seen a larger selection of pet clothes. They also regularly have really cute events for dogs and their owners. A good example of this is Poochinies and Peticures, which is a pedicure for your pooch and a poochini (Tito's vodka cocktail) for you. This event benefits the French Bulldog Rescue Network. If you are in the Austin area, you should go check them out and participate in some of their fun events! And if you need a Howl-O-Ween costume for your furry friend, they have a ton of really cute ones! I got our little girl the Dallas Cowboy cheerleader costume that is in the photos below.

Lower Prices On Tug Toys & No October Toy Drive

We have lowered prices on the tug toys! They are now only $4.99. That price includes shipping, etc. Less than $5.00! Snap some up today by clicking on the "Buy It Now" button on the right!

Also, I wanted to let everyone know that it doesn't seem as though we will be having a toy drive for the month of October. I dropped the ball a bit and spent all my spare time working on getting our Teeny's Friends 1-for-1 tug toys ready to be sold. I will let everyone know if anything changes in the next few days. Otherwise, keep an eye for for November toy drive info!
