About Teeny's Friends

We provide toys for needy dogs! At Teeny's Friends our goal is to make sure that no dog ever has to go without the simple pleasure of chasing a ball or snuggling a plushie. Our mission was inspired by Teeny, my own rescue dog & our mascot. We raise toys through monthly toy drives & the sale of our One For One toy (when you buy one, we donate one). The toys we raise are then donated to rescue groups, animal shelters, and families in low income neighborhoods. Read on to learn how you can help us help needy dogs!

Purchase Your Own Official Teeny's Friends One-For-One Toy!

I visited Just For Pets this afternoon, just to chit-chat with the owners (who are such nice people) and I snapped a couple of photos.
Here is a pic of a couple of toys that are on display (with our sign) near the register.

Here is their bakery case that I am always raving about!

Here are a couple of dog cannoli treats I bought for our poochies.

Buy Our Toy, We'll Donate One To A Needy Dog

Beginning today, official Teeny's Friends toys will be available for purchase! These aren't just any old toys; we are taking a one-for-one approach. When you buy one of our Teeny's Friends toys, we will donate one to a dog in a shelter or low-income neighborhood. This is what I was referring to a while back when I said we had some exciting things in the works. You can see our toy in the photo above. Tug toys have always been Teeny's favorite kind, so it was a no-brainer when it came time for me to chose what type of toy I wanted to create.

Currently, the Teeny's Friend toy is available at Lofty Dog, who also donated the doggy swag bags for Teeny's 5th birthday party and dog toy drive. We are expanding to more locations as I speak- er, type! If you are not in the Austin area and would like to purchase one, please let me know by email at katysknox@yahoo.com or in the comments below, and we will make arrangments. And just for fun, I posted a pic below of our cute tags. Enjoy! =)

Who Else Dresses Their Dogs Up For Halloween?

Here is a picture of Teeny in his footballer costume last year! He won first place in the dog costume contest in our neighborhood. His little sister was a princess, but I can't find the pictures I have of her in her costume- when I find them I will post them.

Who else dresses up their dog? What is your furry friend going to be for Halloween? If you need some ideas, click here to see some of the dog costumes available on Amazon.com.

September Toy Drive & A Sick Poochie!

Sorry for the lack of updates; we have had an eventful week!
On Saturday we picked up the toy bins from Just For Pets. They are such great people! I actually stopped by there again today to pick up some treats from their bakery case. I went with carob brownies this time. The major action came courtesy of 4 A.M. this morning. Teeny woke us up making a gasping, hacking, honking noise. Having never heard of a reverse sneeze, I panicked. I thought he was either vomiting or gasping for breath. I gave him some Benadryl and stayed up the rest of the night so that I could wake him up every 5 minutes to check & make sure he was breathing and had a heart beat. (Ok, maybe I overreacted a bit...) This morning, he was very lethargic and generally sad looking so we decided to take him to our vet, the Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital, for observation for the day. We found out about the aforementioned reverse sneeze and learned that I gave him a tad too much Benadryl, causing the lethargy this morning. He is at home now catching up on his sleep. Whew! Above are some pics I took of him snoozing in a basket of clean laundry.

Teeny's Friends Postcard for the Pet Postcard Project

Yesterday I did a post on the Pet Postcard Project and how River Dog Prints is helping with their mission to feed shelter dogs. Well, Teeny's Friends is on the first postcard- and we may be biased, but we LOVE LOVE LOVE it! We will be mailed to the current sponsor, which is Rachel Ray's Nourish, who will in turn donate 1 lb. of dog food will go to the current beneficiary, which is Rachel Ray's own animal organization, Rachael’s Rescue. We are so proud and thrilled and happy to be involved with this effort, and a million thanks go out to River Dog Prints for all their hard work.

Hope everyone is having a great woof Wednesday,

~Katy

P.S. Keep checking back at Scout's Dog Blog every day to see the other 29 postcards throughout the month of September! They are accepting nominations! If you would like to be featured on a postcard, send in your pet's picture and a paragraph or so about him/her to scout@riverdogprints.com!

The Pet Postcard Project

The Pet Postcard Project (started by writer Nikki Moustaki) is an effort to raise awareness and help feed shelter dogs. For each postcard sent via US Mail, one pound of dog food will be provided to animal shelters. The good people at River Dog Prints want to help, so they are asking pet owners to send over their photos and stories about their pets. They will take this information and create a postcard for each day of the month of September. Their goal is to give shelter animals 30 more pounds of food by month’s end. Please participate in this and support their worthy cause if you have a spare moment; emails can be sent to scout@riverdogprints.com. They are also on Twitter at @ScouttheDog and @RiverDogPrints. Click here to read the post on River Dog Prints Scout's Dog Blog and click here to learn more about The Pet Postcard Project.

Wet doggy kisses,

~ Katy
