How Teeny's Friends Operates
Teeny's Friends operates by raising toys through monthly toy drives. Each month (usually the first Saturday) we will place bins at an animal-related organization for two weeks. After the two weeks are over, we pick up the bins and collect the toys, which will in turn be donated to an animal-related charity. We like to let the host choose the beneficiary group, so that everyone gets a chance to benefit, as many people have a favorite organization (many times one that we wouldn't have heard about otherwise!) so that the toys get spread out more evenly and fairly! Each month the toy drive location and beneficiary organization is posted on this blog, as well as on our Facebook and our Twitter. Another way we help needy dogs is with our official Teeny's Friends 1-fur-1 toy. When you purchase one, we donate one to a needy dog in a shelter. They are only $4.99, and you can find ordering information and a photo of the toy on the home page of our blog, in the upper part of the right-hand column.Posted by Teenys Friends at Wednesday, May 13, 2009 1 comments

The Story Behind Teeny's Friends
About 5 years ago, I decided I wanted a dog. So I adopted Marteeny, a miniature pinscher mix whose life, up until that point, had been fairly rough. He was sad-looking little thing, with rampant ring worms and ribs that stuck out. Almost immediately, he became my sun and my world revolved around him. I'll never understand how someone can mistreat an animal, much less one so small and helpless. It took a lot of TLC at the beginning of our relationship, but now he is such a happy, well-adjusted dog now and I can't imagine my life without him, or our other precious pooch, Tootsie, who is a Miniature Schnauzer. One of my favorite things to do is to watch them play with their toys, which they love as much as any child loves their toys. Something as cheap as a $1 toy from Wal Mart literally makes their life and it makes me sad that not every dog has that simple pleasure. Last year, we decided to throw a "birthday party" for Marteeny and have everyone bring a "present" in the form of a dog toy so that we could make a donation to needy dogs. And thus, the idea for TEENY'S FRIENDS was born.
